Routes 2 Roots Workshop at Observation Home for Boys

In its first ever initiative for boys who are part of the Observation home for corrective behaviour, Routes 2 Roots organised a Theatre workshop. 200 children between the age group of 16 to 18 who are in the Observation home in Delhi attended this workshop conducted by the Theatre expert of the NGO. Routes 2 Roots interns from B R Ambedkar School of Specilised Excellence, Amity University, Noida and Tampi, Manipal who are learning about music, also participated in the workshop and entertianed the boys by performing popular songs for them. The young boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience as they sang along with the NGO's team. The workshops ended at a sweet note with ice creams provided by team Routes 2 Roots to everyone at the end.

The special home comes under the department of Women and Child Development, where children who have ongoing criminal cases against them are housed and mentored. While most of them are talented, they are unable to follow their passion as they get sucked into the world of crime due to lack of knowledge and resources. The workshop was a platform for them to expand their horizons and realise their creative expression in a safe and creative environment, which they don’t often get exposed to. The session was a successful and mutually fulfilling experience for the youngsters and Routes 2 Roots. It is yet another endeavour to bring a positive change in society through art and culture.
