    Celebration of 65 years of Diplomatic Ties between 
    India & Russia with a festival of India

    India & Russia have always shared a special relationship with each other historically, which have withstood the ups and downs of the fast changing world. To further strengthen and cement the bonds Routes 2 Roots Delhi Based NGO and Art Center Bereg an NGO in Russia, Embassy of India in Moscow, Embassy of Russia in India, Directorate of Film Festivals, Govt of India, Indian Council for Cultural Relations New Delhi and the Consulate General of India, St. Petersburg Celebrated 65 years of diplomatic relations between India & Russia from 13th to 22nd April, 2012 by organising Festival of India “OPEN INDIA” in Russia.

    H’ble S.M. Krishna Indian Minister for External Affairs, Deputy Foreign  Minister of Russian Federation Mr. Igor Morgulov, along with H.E. Ambassador  Mr. Ajai Malhotra, and C.G. Mr. Vishvas Sapkal, Mr. Eduardo Sagalev, Actor from India Sharman Joshi of “3 Idiots” fame apart from other diplomats and distinguished guests participated in the celebrations commencing in Russia from 13th to 15th April, 2012 in Moscow and from 16th to 22nd April, 2012 in St. Petersburg. The famous Qawals NIZAMI BROTHERS’ gave mesmerizing Qawali performance to enthrall the audience of Russia accompanied with “Sufi Dervishes” They  also  performed in 4 more cities of Russia, St. Petersburg, Kazan, UFA and Tver. Eminent personalty of the Indian cinema Sharman Joshi actor of movie “3 idiots” also participated in the event and shared  experiences of the Indian Cinema. 

    As a part of Indian Film festival, movies, “A Wednesday”, ”3 Idiots”, “Tare Zameer Par”, “Jodha Akbar”, “Ishqiya”, “Fashion”, “Wake Up Sid”, “Kannathil Mutha Mittal”, “Delhi-6”, “Jab We Met”, “Tarayanche Bait”, “Agneepath”, “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”, “I Hate Love Stories”and “Corporate” subtitled and dubbed in Russian language were screened in prominent multiplexes of Moscow & St. Petersburg.

    On the occasion of this function “Vedas” the ancient  knowledge of mankind, an 8 hour DVD with Russian subtitles was launched in Moscow by H’ble External affairs minister of India Mr. S. M. Krishna & Dy. Minister of Foreign affairs in Russia, Mr. Igor Morgulov and H.E. Ambassador  Mr. Ajai Malhotra. This was followed by a launch of the “Vedas” DVD in St. Petersburg by H.E. Ambassador  Mr. Ajai Malhotra, Consul General of India in St-Petersburg Mr. Vishvas Sapkal and Chairman of the Committee on Press Mr Alexander Lobkov. A book written by Anupama Chopra on Sharukh Khan, translated in Russian was also released on this occasion.
