In yet another initiative by Routes 2 Roots for spreading peace and harmony by cultural programs and people to people contact, unique evening christened as “Drums for peace” A Musical Concert – A Percussion Orchestra.
Wherein special emphasis was given to the long forgotten traditional Guru (Teacher) Shishya ( Student) Parampara ( Tradition) was highlighted the children playing various drums from around the world and their respective Guru Pt. Keshab Kanti Chowdhary an Internationally acclaimed versatile percussionist, has performed in many concerts in India and Abroad under the aegis of ICCR, UNO, UNESCO, Moscow Conservatoire, ISKON, Boheme Jazz , RitmoVital (Spain), Bienel de Flamenco (Spain), Neemrana Music Foundation (France) etc. The performance was held on 30th January’ 09 at Kamani Auditorium, Mandi House, New Delhi, on the occasion of the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi the father of the nation and symbol of peace world wide.
It was one of the rare occasion to experience the symphony of 20 different types of percussion instruments like Tabla, Pakhawaj, Naal, Dholak Srikhol, Madol, Duff, Dopli, Kanjira, Ghatam, Khanjari, Khamak, MAnjira, Zera (Arabian), Kowal (Azerbaijan), Djembe (African), Cajon (Spanish), Congo, Jazz Drums, Handsonic SFX, Effect Instruments. Routes 2 Roots has also another mission to accomplish which is to provide opportunity to the underprivilege children. To further this cause 60 underprivileged children from the age group of 5 to 7 in association with Savera, were specially invited, where they do not get an opportunity to witness such shows. Routes 2 Roots also arranged special refreshments for the children, and they enjoyed the show with great enthusiasm.
