Routes 2 Roots in its endeavor to enhance People to people contact was looking for areas in education sector where impressionable minds of students could be infused with the oneness of Saarc nations England in one place where most of the students from Saarc nations come to pursue their graduation and post graduation courses hence we started working closely with Coventry University and Bedfordshire University where large number of students from this region are studying. Indian Bollywood industry is a common connector in terms of culture, entertainment and fashion, hence we decided to nominate super star Shah Rukh Khan for the honorary doctorate in Arts and Culture.

Shah Rukh Khan was selected by us after careful study since he has his head and heart at the right place in spite of being crowned the King of the Bollywood. The Superstar has done immense work for the under privileged and downtrodden and has always come forward for charities in case of natural disasters" according to Tina Vachani one of the Founders of Routes 2 Roots.
Shah Rukh Khan while accepting his Doctorate at the function organized by Routes 2 Roots in London, said “I am delighted that Routes 2 Roots nominated me for the Honorary Doctorate in Arts and Culture from the University of Bedfordshire. While this honour is bestowed on me, I wonder if the deserveing but poor and underprivileged children from India can also pursue their higher education in such Universities and earn a Doctorate as well.”

The University of Bedfordshire is proud to be runner up for the coveted title of University of the Year in the Times Higher Education Supplement Awards. The Guardian placed the University third in the country for media-related courses and 13th for Sport. Its teacher training league table placed Bedfordshire 30th in the country – up six places from last year. It has been rated the 2nd for Dance, 6th for Journalism and 11th for Marketing Accounts by the National Survey of 2008.
